Now as you know I am both a fan of ski-ing/snowboarding and also of cruising. Today I could have fulfilled both dreams had I been on board the Queen Mary 2 in New York.
Whilst I say this in jest, it is a serious situation that New York finds itself in, they have declared a state of emergency and snowstorm 'Hercules' has caused thousands of flight cancellations across the country.
Over 700 flights have been cancelled across New York's 3 airports with BA cancelling at least 2 flights from the UK to JFK today.
QM2 was due to sail this evening on a transatlantic crossing back to Southampton before embarking on her 2014 world. I sincerely hope that anyone flying out yesterday or today to join her managed to do so and that the crew have managed to clear the decks and to keep her passengers safe on the promenade deck. It looks mighty slippy on board.
