'The Stig' to Captain Cunard's Queen Mary 2

 

 

Cunard have today announced that they are to employ Top Gear's 'The Stig' as the Celebrity Captain on board Queen Mary 2.

This is said to be in response to the Celebrity Chef war between Royal Caribbean and P&O Cruises that has been featured in the cruise press over recent weeks.

"Cruising is no longer just about the ship, but about who can enhance your product" said Peter Shanks, President and Managing Director of Cunard UK. " We thought that the industry already has too many cooks and that a Celebrity Captain would add another dimension."

 By using 'The Stig' Cunard will massively decrease the time that it takes to cross the ocean and open themselves up to the business market too. Queen Mary will now leave Southampton on a Saturday arriving into New York at 7am on Monday morning in time for the markets to open and breakfast meetings.
